A lot of people have jumped on the bandwagon whereby they believe that online surveys may somehow be a lucrative source of income.

Whilst making money online is of course a dream for many people, getting paid a few cents per hour just won't cut it, at least not for most people in first world countries. You see, the problem with doing online surveys to make money is that the companies that run these surveys are the ones making all the money, not the people doing them.

Surveys have always posed questions to people and attempted to gather information from a large audience. Like with anything that has to do with a mass effect, the amount of money each person gets is of course going to be minimal. You wouldn't really expect ten thousand or so people who do a survey to get paid more than a dollar, or else the survey becomes too expensive for the company to complete.

One of the main points of interest with doing an online survey is that they are more often than not, incredibly lengthy. The reason for this is because the companies that run the surveys want to get the most bang for their buck as the saying goes. They're not going to be content just asking you a few questions and hoping that that will be all they require, indeed the more questions you answer, the great edge they can get on the statistics.

Now there are even those surveys out there who don't really care about the questions you ask at all, and instead only want you to buy a product at the end of the survey by giving you a 50% discount or something similar. This will make the average consumer believe they're getting a bargain by buying the product, and thus they'll be more likely to do business with the survey company or one of its partners.

The trick is to always be vigilant so that you don't end up paying more money than you have to when completing online surveys to make money online. As tempting as it may seem, you should try to refrain from the discounts and so called free offers available in these surveys as if you're not careful, you may actually see yourself spending more money online as opposed to saving it. In the long term, this could of course mean you're out of pocket more than what you began with.

The author, John Hubert, created a page explaining all the reasons on why it's recommended that you don't do online surveys. The site he runs teaches people strategies to Make Online Money.
